Writing

Writing is something that I have always enjoyed doing. I have never really sat down and tried to write a novel or anything, but I have always enjoyed writing papers and such for school. I have always thought that I would like to be a professional writer. I am not saying that I am any good, I just like the idea of it. I can see myself sitting at Starbucks, typing away on my laptop. As of today, I have been put in charge of our weekly employee newsletter  that is sent out with all of our employees checks. I sent off my first draft today to the owner of the company, and he said it was great. It goes out Thursday morning all around the United States and I am hoping it is well received. It was very poorly written before I was put in charge, so it won't take much to make it better. The entire format has been changed and it actually looks somewhat professional now. One of my fellow employees is an excellent blogger with a large vocabulary and a knack for grammar. I am lucky to have him by my side to assist in this weekly newsletter. It is a very simple newsletter. It is just a basic "Hero's List." I basically compile information and special incident reports from our Memphis office and ask out of town account and regional managers to send me their heroes. Heroes are those guards (I am in the security guard business) that make a difference, that go above and beyond.
It isn't much. Just a few pages every week. But it does make the guards feel good. It gives them a sense of importance and worth to the company. I am hoping that this writing activity will become something that I enjoy at my job and not something I get tired of.
