History from the Web

I should be studying for a Biology final, but that is boring! Therefore, it is time for another segment of History from the Web!

I received an email today from HNN.us (History News Network), with a subject line which said the following:

Best History Book of 2012?

HNN Best History BookThis is definitely not spam, and I was glad to open this one. (Not to say that most of their email is spam…) You might remember that earlier in the year, I wrote an article about HNN’s Least Credible History Books. With so little time, this list was appreciated as I didn’t desire to waste my time reading “least credible” books. I was glad to see that they were putting out a list with the best history books of 2012. This way I know what I need to be reading. There are only so many books that one can read in a lifetime…

All this being said, today is the last day to suggest a “Best History Book of 2012″

Here is the text so you can click through and nominate your favorite book!

Email editor@hnn.us, tweet to @myHNN, or comment on Facebook or LinkedIn.

Once you do that, jump over to The History Vault and play a game of Guess Who! No, thank goodness it isn’t the children’s. There are five historical women portrayed in pictures. Can you guess who they are? I could not complete the list, and I believe that no one else has… so go check it out!

Do you know who this is?

Do you know who this is?

Last but not least for today is a Pearl Harbor article. On the day of such a significant events in history, I generally don’t write about them. There are so many others–some better that I–writing about the topic, I like to read what they write. Out of all the Pearl Harbor pieces that I read, I can highly recommend Belle Grove Plantation’s We Will Never Forget.
