Passive Aggressive

Why do people feel the need to be passive aggressive?
Let me start this out with a disclaimer.... even though I do not think that only women can be passive aggressive, the women that I work with all are.

Many of the women that I work with are this way, and it is very unnerving. If you feel the need to be passive aggressive, that is fine, but there is no place for it in a business environment.
At the Mayo Clinic, they have an excellent list of traits that describes one being passive aggressive.

Specific signs and symptoms of passive-aggressive behavior include:
  • Resentment and opposition to the demands of others
  • Complaining about feeling underappreciated or cheated
  • Procrastination
  • Stubbornness
  • Inefficiency
  • Memory lapses
  • Sullenness
  • Irritability
  • Cynical or hostile attitude
None of these traits are anything I should have to deal with on a Monday-Friday between the hours of 9am-5pm. I feel that in a world with email and text messaging, that no one can properly communicate anymore. No one knows how to have a face to face interaction with another human being. If a problem should arise in a work place setting, I should be able to talk to you about it and that be it. Either the problem at hand needs to resolved or forgotten. There should not be a lingering of hatred that affects the workplace.
Needless to say, I am currently caught in my own web of workplace passive aggressive behavior and I hoping that it will end soon.
