Advances?
I am currently in the middle of a group project in my Computers, Writing and Literature class. The project is as mentioned earlier, advances of technology and the affects on literature and writing. What advances??? Before I started blogging and writing my weekly newsletter for my employment, I could hardly spell. Between the infinite wisdom of Google and Microsoft Office, there is no need to know how to spell. You either type it in Microsoft Office and it corrects it or you type it into Google and it tells you the word that you were really looking for.
Grammar is even worse. You would think that any average writer could write a proper sentence with subject and verb agreement, but no. I know that when you completely screw up sentence structure, it puts a green squiggly underneath the sentence and you can 'right-click' and almost fix your sentence. With this available it amazes me of all the papers that I am reading in my class where I guess the green squiggles were just completely ignored.
In conclusion, I do not feel that technology is doing wonders for writing and literature. Technology has given our generation a handicap.
