Advancement

I was recently approached by my boss the other day in regards to a promotion. No specifics were discussed, in fact it was really just in passing... so I don't know what the job would be. I run my own department, so it isn't a promotion to something in my department. It made me curious as to what he thinks I would be good at. I know a lot of the ins and outs of my company (more than most people here), but I am not really qualified to do any of the positions we have here. This leads me to believe that there is position that he is going to create. I am almost weary to anything he has in mind because as of now I have an exceptionally flexible job and my wages are in the top percentile of the company. I can't imagine a job possibility that would give me much more money that wouldn't demand more work or time out of me. As much as I want to continue to grow with this company, there is a certain amount of "flexibility" that I need to maintain if I am ever going to finish school.

There is also the thought that continues to linger about how nice it would be to work forty hours a week. The amount of hours I work would be easier to stomach if I made 300k+ a year, sadly I am no surgeon or lawyer. I know that as long as I work here I will never make the kind of money I can earn working forty hours a week.
