| Brad and Angelina |
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have decided to tie the knot! When this dynamic-duo started down their hyped-up, A List, Hollywood love story, they proclaimed that until everyone had the right to engage in marriage, they would not get married. Just in the last year, Brad Pitt confirmed their commitment to the cause on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Whether disheartened because of politics or just smitten with each other, the two have publicly announced that they are engaged. With no hard feelings from the LGBT community, the Communications Director for Equality California stated, "the group is totally behind the Brangelina marriage, even if the right to marry is still not enjoyed by everyone." Having been married only a short time, I can't imagine being in a relationship as long as they have, just to sit idly by and wait for policy change. I commend them for their efforts, but I believe they have waited long enough. Brangelina has been an item for seven-plus years and they have six children. I am glad to see that they have moved on, and now it is time for someone else to carry the torch. Human rights, whether marriages for all or the right to vote, are continually challenged and oppressed. I hope that one day, when faced with the opportunity, I might have the chance to stand up for a worthy cause.
